Ikat fabric (pronounced: E–cot) is made by applying a resist technique on either the warp or weft yarn before being dyed in pattern, this way the fabric is created within the yarn itself. This method of fabric design creates a "blurred" edge to the design. The more skillful the weaver, the less "blurr". To recognize a true Ikat, all you would have to do is turn the fabric around and you should see the same design on the front as on the back (if the design was printed on then the back would be blank)
