Patrick Demarchelier

The scene from the movie The Devil Wears Prada, where Meryl Streep asks "Get me Patrick!", helped make him a household name outside of the fashion world.

Demarchelier was born near Paris in 1943 and moved to New York City in 1975. He is probably best known for his intimate portraits of Princess Diana, helping to establish her popularity. But he photographed covers for all the major magazines and in 1992 was the premier photographer for Harper's Bazaar. He died recently in March 2022 at the age of 78.
